Flights were grounded at Aberdeen Airport for just under 2 hours yesterday because of a power failure. It lost power at 10:40, and although its emergency generators provided lighting in the terminal, flights were grounded as there was no power to process passengers through security.
Power was restored just under 2 hours later, but the airport suffered knock-on delays throughout the afternoon, hitting the travel plans of hundreds of passengers. Scottish & Southern Energy said the problem was caused by a fault with an underground cable and repairs were underway.
