Scottish Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson opened the new £2.3m walkway at Aberdeen Airport yesterday. The walkway, an extension to the existing terminal, will improve passenger's travel experience by providing covered and segregated corridors for arrivals and departures.
The walkway's completion marked the first phase of the redevelopment of the airport. Phases 2 and 3 include an extension of the international arrivals hall, with improvements in passport control, baggage reclaim and greater floor space to reduce congestion. There is also an ongoing project in the short-stay car park where a multi-storey car park is being built.
Opening the walkway and unveiling a plaque, Mr Stevenson said: ‘The walkway will certainly avoid the wintry draft that people can feel when they come off planes. I think it is an excellent step forward for the airport.’
