Bmibaby celebrated the launch of their new flight route between Birmingham and Newquay late last week. The summer only flights run until the end of September and are expected to carry more than 20,000 sun seekers down to the south coast.
Crawford Rix, managing director for bmibaby, said: ‘The new route is great news for the region. No longer will a trip to Newquay mean a 4½ hour slog down the M5. Now it’s a short flight of just over an hour. The route is proving popular and we expect to carry thousands of passengers in the summer.’
Paul Kehoe, chief executive officer at Birmingham Airport, said: ‘It is great news for our passengers that this popular route has been reinstated. A trip to Newquay has meant a long car journey for Midlanders, but with this direct service a long holiday or a short weekend break is within reach.’
