Passengers were rushed from a smoking plane at Edinburgh Airport yesterday. The 3 crew and 24 passengers were evacuated from a Loganair aircraft after one of its engines began smoking whilst it was parked, minutes before take-off. The flight was bound for the Isle of Man.
A spokesperson for Loganair, a Flybe franchise (a number of press reports suggest that it was a Flybe plane / flight) said: ‘The engines were immediately shut down as a precautionary measure, and the 24 passengers and 3 crew were evacuated. We would like to offer sincere apologies to customers whose journeys were disrupted by this incident.’
