Oven smoke causes Gatwick flight emergency
16.08.10
A plane made an emergency landing at Gatwick yesterday after an onboard oven started smoking. The Thomas Cook holiday flight TSX975K was carrying 330 passengers and crew from Manchester to Dalaman when smoke was seen coming from the galley.
The Boeing 767 landed at Gatwick Airport at 08:40 and all passengers were taken off. Following an investigation it was discovered that packaging in an oven was causing the smoke. The passengers were allowed to re-board the plane just before midday, however, because of flying time restrictions, it returned to Manchester to allow for a change of crew before it resumed its journey to Dalaman.
