A laser attack on an aircraft flying over Surrey is being investigated by the police. The green laser was shone at an Austrian Airlines plane that had taken off from Heathrow, shortly after 22:00 on 17 July. Surrey Police said the the laser was believed to have been shone from in or near Ashford Road in Staines.
Inspector Sarah Greenhalgh said the laser could ‘blind or distract the pilot and put everyone on board at risk. Laser pens can be very powerful and to shine one into the cockpit of any aircraft during flight is extremely dangerous. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Surrey Police.'
