BA has recruited Fulham and England striker Bobby Zamora to publicise its backing of England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup. The airline is collecting hundreds of passenger signatures and will plaster them on the official England 2018 plane that will fly the Bid team to FIFA’s Swiss headquarters in December.
Zamora has been recruited to help launch the airline's scheme, which is timed to coincide with this week’s ‘Backing the Bid Week’. Signatures will be collected via an electronic board in BA’s Galleries lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5.
Zamora is an official Back the Bid ambassador and recently won his first England cap in the friendly game against Hungary. He is also the subject of our favourite football chant. Sung by his own team's fans whilst he was at West Ham to the tune of 'That's Amore' it goes: 'When the ball hits your head when you sit in row Z, that's Zamora (that's Zamora)!' [Row Z is far, far away from the goal, the intended target].
