A toy gun belonging to a member of a Middle Eastern royal family sparked a security alert at Heathrow last week. The imitation gun was left in a bag on a flight from Paris, from were the royals had boarded through a VIP channel.
The royals boarded the flight from Charles de Gaulle Airport, but it is not known how the toy gun was allowed through security in Paris. Civilian security guards at Heathrow alerted police after discovering the suspicious item on Monday evening. But it was returned to its owner once its innocent nature had been established, Scotland Yard said.
The incident has lead to red faces among security staff in Paris for allowing the toy gun on to the flight.
