Arrest over 1999 Heathrow car park suitcase body

25.08.10

A flight attendant suspected of killing a Canadian singer in 1999 and dumping her body in a suitcase at a Heathrow car park was arrested yesterday in Bahrain. The police said they expect Youseff Ahmed Wahid to be returned to the UK within a few days. He left the country the day after Fatima Kama's body was discovered in a suitcase in a car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3.

Ms Kama, 28, was stabbed and her throat slit. Her body was concealed in a suitcase on a luggage cart. The singer was born in Morocco and had been living near Montreal, but had been a regular visitor to London. She arrived on July 10, 1999, and was supposed to fly back to Montreal on July 17, but her body was found concealed in a suitcase that evening.

Mr Wahid, a Kuwaiti Airlines flight attendant, allegedly stole jewellery and money totaling thousands of pounds from the singer. He first fled to his native Lebanon, which arrested and then released him. Police said he was arrested yesterday in Bahrain in a pre-planned operation and is in custody pending extradition to the UK.
