Passengers on a Ryanair flight 'feared for their lives' when the plane plummeted 12,000 feet in a matter of minutes, the Irish Mirror reports. Flight FR449 was travelling from Liverpool to Dublin on May 20 when the pilot made an emergency announcement – saying ‘emergency descent, emergency descent,’ before triggering the passenger oxygen masks.
One passenger told the newspaper: ‘A hostess was sobbing, she was in bits. Her behaviour made us think, ‘If she is afraid, then we really must be in trouble’.
The plane descended from 18,000ft to 10,000ft to resolve a problem with its cabin pressure, before it quickly dropped again to 6,000ft. It ultimately made a safe landing. Ireland's Air Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
